The Space Blocks feature is now available Molo. The following known issues or restrictions exist:
- The system does not yet check for colliding space blocks. Meaning it will not yet warn you if you make 2 space blocks for similar dates and pick the same space. Therefore, if you remove a space from 1 space block be sure to check other space blocks to ensure it's available for online bookings.
- We have added a Customer-Facing Name and Group Code to support future online bookings of blocks but this is not yet implemented. Therefore all spaces that are in a Space Block that is not yet Expired will not appear as available to online bookings (e.g. Snag-A-Slip).
To create a new Space Block follow the steps below.
- Go to Marina Settings --> Spaces Settings --> Space Blocks.
- Click Create New Space Block at the top right.
- Fill out all fields with a Red Star and click Create Space Block.
Below is a description of each field and how it behaves.
- Internal Name - This is the private name for the space block.
- Customer Name - This is the public name that will appear if you want to allow online bookings for this space block.
- Group Code - This is the short code like "PowerboatTour2018" if you want to give group codes for easy online requests for this block.
- Internal Description - This is the private description for only Molo users to see.
- Customer Description - This is the public description that will appear to customers when attempting to view or book this block.
- For Contact - This is where you can link this block to a specific contact that is going to use this block for their own booking.
- Requesting Contact - This is where you can store the contact who is requesting or organizing the block.
- Start Date - This is the start of the block and in a reservation is known as the Scheduled Arrival Date. This is when a space will begin to be unavailable.
- End Date - This is the end of the block and in a reservation is known as the Scheduled Departure Date. This is when a space will begin to be available for use again.
- Expiration Date- This is when the block is set to expire. If a space is not used or booked then after the expiration date the blocked spaces will return into your inventory of spaces and be available for reservations again.
- Special Note: You can set the Expiration Date to be different than the End Date. Below are some examples where you would want to do this.
- Example 1: Today is June 4th and you want to hold 20 spaces for July 1 to July 4 for a group of sailboats. But if they don't book by June 25th you want to allow others to book these spaces. Setting the Expiration Date to June 25th 9:00 AM will automatically release these spaces for online bookings at that date and time.
- Example 2: Today is July 15th and you want to hold 30 spaces for a Labor Day Weekend party. From past experience, you know that sometimes boaters decide to leave a day early. In this case you could set the Expiration Date to be Sunday Morning to allow those spaces to be booked for Sunday night even though the End Date of Monday hasn't happened yet.
- Max LOA To Hold- If you are including Alongside or Long-Edge dockage in this Space Block, this is where you should enter the Maximum LOA of any or all boat(s) that may book this block.
- Special Note: If there is no value set, Molo will block off the whole Long Edge Space
- Example: You are including your Outside or T-Head space of 250 feet in this block but only want to hold 100 feet for reservations. Therefore you would enter 100 Feet in the Max LOA to Hold.
- Max Beam To Hold- If you are including Med Mooring or Short-Edge dockage in this Space Block, this is where you should enter the Maximum Beam of any or all boat(s) that may book this block.
- Example: You are including 2 of your Med Mooring spaces South 1 and North 2. You want to hold 50 feet of space on both. You would enter 50 Feet in the Max Beam to Hold and the system will hold 50 feet of beam on each.
Removing a Space Block from Use
Space Blocks can be deactivated in a few different ways.
- You can change the date range of the space block to be in the past.
- You can remove all the slips from the space block, so there are no slips assigned to it.
