This guide is for setting up your Molo Express Card Reader for the WisePOS E pictured below. 

If your reader does not look like this, please use our guide on the Verifone P400 or Mobile Card Reader.

Setting Up the Reader

  1. Open the back of the Terminal by lifting up from the indentation at the bottom left-hand corner of the terminal.
  2. Insert the battery into the back of the Terminal with the gold connectors aligned at the top of the device.
  3. Replace the back cover of the terminal by sliding the top in first and the pressing down on the bottom.
  4. Place the terminal into the dock (if included).

Connect to the Internet

The WisePOSE can process payments using the Ethernet port in the base of the reader or by using Wifi

Ethernet

Using Ethernet is the preferred connection method for the reader.


  1. Plug one end of the ethernet cable into your router & the other end into the ethernet port on the dock.
  2. Plug in the USB power cable to the dock.
  3. Turn the terminal on by holding the power button on the right-hand side of the device until the screen turns on.
  4. Your terminal will immediately connect to the internet and will remain charged through the dock. The reader obtains an IP address using DHCP. As soon as the network cable is plugged in, the reader attempts to establish communication with Molo.
If you want the reader to continue working when removed from the dock, you must complete the WiFi steps below.


WiFi

When the reader is docked and the dock is connected to your network via ethernet, it will use the ethernet connection over the WiFi.


  1. Open Settings by swiping your finger from the left edge to the right.
  2. Touch Settings and enter the Admin PIN of 07139.
  3. Touch Network.
  4. Pick the WiFi network you want to connect to and enter the password.
Important Note: If you want to use the reader with Molo while on WiFi, you must be on the same network as the computer performing the sale.

In other words, you cannot have the reader on a Guest or Public WiFi network.


Checking WiFi Connection

  1. Open Settings by swiping your finger from the left edge to the right.
  2. Touch Settings and enter the Admin PIN of 07139.
  3. Touch Network.
  4. Touch Run health check.
  5. A message should appear with the status of your WiFi.



Pairing the Reader to Molo

  1. On the Reader, open the Settings by swiping your finger from the left edge to the right.
  2. Tap the Settings button and enter the admin PIN 07139.
  3. Touch Generate pairing code.
  4. In Molo, navigate to Admin Settings --> Hardware --> Molo Terminals.
  5. Touch Add New Terminal.
  6. Give the terminal a name like Fuel Dock and enter the Registration Code into Molo exactly how it appears on the reader including the dashes.
  7. Once it is completed, select the Make My Default Terminal so Molo will use that as the default terminal for payments.




Other Notes:

Ethernet connectivity for the WisePOS E reader requires the use of an optional dock, which provides wired ethernet connectivity while also keeping your smart reader fully charged using the included charging cable. Please reach out to support@getmolo.com and we can assist.


The Ethernet Dock features a 10/100 Ethernet port, rubber feet for stable countertop usage, and is designed for easy docking and undocking using the pins on the back of the reader. The included charging cable can be plugged into any USB-A power adapter and has a minimum power requirement of 5V-2A (10W).
