Problem Description
"Why can't I turn on 'Inventory Tracking' for this item?"
Symptoms
When editing an inventory item, the "Inventory Tracked" field appears grayed out and cannot be activated.
Resolution Steps
- Delete the inventory item.
- Re-add the inventory item and enable "Inventory Tracked".
Cause (Optional)
There are multiple reasons why "Inventory Tracked" field can be disabled from editing:
- The inventory item was imported from QuickBooks Online (QBO), with the "Inventory Tracked" option enabled by default. As a result, inventory tracking cannot be disabled.
- The inventory item was added with "Inventory Tracked" option disabled and used in transactions already.
