Problem Description
"How do I create a rate for transient reservations?"
"How can I add a new Timed-Base Rate?"
Context
Time-Based Rates in Molo
Time-based rates are one of the three main rate types in Molo (along with Seasonal and Recurring rates). Here are the key points:
- Purpose: Time-based rates are typically used for reservations that charge by a time period (e.g., per month, per day)
- Invoicing: They automatically generate invoices based on the time period configured
- Use Case: Often used for longer-term rentals or when rates need to be calculated over specific date ranges
Transient Rates in Molo
- What They Are: Transient rates are designed for short-term, temporary stays (like overnight or short-duration dockage)
- Key Limitation: Transient rates are not designed to update the rate midway through a reservation to a different rate for only some invoices
- Rate Changes: If a marina wants different rates for different periods within the same reservation, the recommended approaches are:
- Use Recurring Rates instead (which allow rate updates for future invoices)
- Use multiple separate reservations with different transient rates
